Celebrating Traditional Makers in Australia

Australian Western Makers is dedicated to recognising, growing, and promoting the Western arts in Australia. We proudly celebrate saddle makers, silversmiths, leather workers, rawhide braiders, whip makers, and the many artisans whose skills and creativity continue to shape the Western industry in this country.

2024 marked the first combined competition and expo for Australian Western Makers, held in Dalby, QLD — an evolution of the original concept started by Trevor Able in Stanthorpe just a few years earlier. Today, the event is managed by Eloise Johnson of Triple One Western Industries in collaboration with Able Custom Saddles, with a shared vision to see the Expo grow bigger each year and to develop mini showcase events alongside other major Western industry gatherings.

We are incredibly proud of the community that has rallied behind this event. The support of our sponsors, competitors, and industry partners makes all the difference in bringing the Expo to life and ensuring the Western trades are celebrated on the stage they deserve. This year, we are especially fortunate to be teaming up with The Congress — the ultimate Western weekend of horsemanship and artisans — a partnership that will shine an even brighter spotlight on the craftsmanship and culture at the heart of Australian Western Makers.
